COMCEL Deploys DOC1 Archive to Provide
Immediate Access to Customer Bills via the Internet
Colombian Wireless Provider Anticipates Substantial Cost Savings Within First Year
Lanham, MD — Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF) today announced that COMCEL, a leading Colombian wireless carrier, has implemented Group 1's DOC1 Archive solution to store and retrieve customer bills. The integrated DOC1 suite gives COMCEL control of the document lifecycle, from content design, generation, and presentment to archive and retrieval. With its selection and implementation of DOC1 Archive, COMCEL is utilizing the entire DOC1 customer communications management suite to generate over 8 million customer invoices annually.
“It was very important to us that DOC1 Archive offered a single, central repository for storing customer bills,” said Alberto Campos, information technology director at COMCEL. “Due to DOC1 Archive's high rate of data compression, we will save substantially on storage hardware and document distribution costs. The central repository lets over 800 customer service reps (CSRs) access customer documents through our intranet and provides thousands of customers Web access to their bills. Allowing both customers and CSRs to view bills stored in a single, central repository enables us to maintain only one application. Additionally, DOC1 Archive lets our customers access their bills only a few hours after the bills are processed.”
DOC1 Archive offers real-time storage, compression and high-speed retrieval of business documents, enabling users to archive and view millions of documents and maintain years of historical billing and statement data online. The solution employs next-generation compression and indexing techniques and utilizes industry-standard hardware, minimizing the investment traditionally required in storage and host platforms.
COMCEL implemented the composition component of the DOC1 suite three years ago and realized substantial savings from reduced application maintenance and outsourced printing costs. With the solution, COMCEL was able to change document content and formatting quickly while the company brought new products and services to market and revamped its corporate image.
